About the Irish Lichen Field Club
The Irish Lichen Field Club was launched in 2009 to foster an interest in Ireland’s lichen flora. The founding members are Paul Whelan (www.lichens.ie) and Terry Thorp.
The aim of the ILFC is to provide support for the identification of Ireland’s lichens by organising outings and providing guidance.
The ILFC has had two field trips during 2009; one to an East Cork Churchyard in June and a second to Goughane Barra in Co. Cork in August which ended with a delightful treat of chocolate cake in a local eating house. Hopefully we will increase the number of outings during 2010. Species lists for these sites will appear in the Newsletter.
