Name: Cladonia pyxidata (L.) Hoffm.

Pronunciation: Cladonia pixidata

Conservation Evaluation: Least Concern

Body Type: Cladonia -  squamulose

Description: It is similar to Cladonia chlorophaea. The podetia are pale green-grey to white and range from 1 cm to 3 cm tall, although some specimens have been recorded with a height of 4 cm. The cups are deep. Small squamules cover both the inside and outside of the podetia. The primary squamules are regularly 4 mm long and vary in width from 2 mm to 10 mm. Apothecia are rare.

Chemical Tests: Thallus is negative for all tests except Pd (red).
